BYU to the SEC!
A very reliable, un-named source has given me the inside scoop on these supposed "rumblings" that are going on at BYU.
In a totally shocking move that is catching everyone by surprise BYU has been invited to the SEC. It is expected that Arkansas will be invited to the Big-12 and CU will not leave the Big-12 at all. They supposedly cannot come up with the $9-$12M that will be needed.
"It's not our fault our program sucks," said a well placed source within the CU AD.
What does all this mean...well now the Pac-10 chancellors are rescinding the Utah offer and Utah is going back to the MWC, effective immediately. Coach Whittingham's tattoo artist claims he has made an appointment to have the large "12" removed from his butt cheeks as soon as tomorrow. ("1" on one cheek, "2" on the other).
No one from Utah's AD department could be reached. They are apparently trying to help the men's basketball team make a better intro video this summer.
One secretary who we did talk to had just opened an "unvitation" letter from the BYU B.O.T. that simply read "See ya...Suckers!"
In other news MWC Commissioner Hair Thompson has supposedly issued the following statement:
"We are glad BYU is leaving and hated them all along. In an attempt to sabotage them again we are inviting Florida and Alabama to the MWC and expect to receive their acceptance letters soon."
BSU is now trying to convince Utah and TCU to move back to the WAC with them and it's apparent that nice guys do not finish last. Benson told someone somewhere on Twitter: "it looks like USU will be staying, we will add BSU back and UNR and FSU are like the Prodigal son returning to their rightful place. We're also in talks with UNLV and SDSU which would create the first "super league" and be a very good one IMO."
So there you have it. The BYU is on to the SEC, but will still be partners with ESPN, who will broadcast all their home games. BYUtv will have access to all BYU's games (home and away) and be able to stream them online in HD for free to the world. (the only requirement is that at half-time of every game you must fill out 2 pass-along cards with legitimate names and addresses on them to continue watching).
